You’ve heard me say it time and time again, Winter’s right around the corner! It’ll be here faster than you think! In no time flat you’re going to be snowed in! But you don’t have to worry about that anymore, after all, you got your plow. You’re all set for the season… right? Would you believe me if I said you’re halfway there?
Spreaders are essentially going to be the “piece de resistance” for your new snowplowing machine, able to salt the streets as you go along, saving yourself and all others from a risk of slipping on the road. So where do you start? How do you know which spreader is right for you, how do you even know what kind of spreader you should get!?
Well don’t panic, Intercon and ITEParts are here to help with everything you would ever need (Truck related that is).
What is a Spreader?
What a good question to ask! Now, if you’re newer to the world of truck parts and the various tools that you have access to, a spreader might either be one of the most familiar things, or one of the least familiar, to you, but much as the name suggests it is a pretty self-explanatory device. A spreader is most commonly used during the winter to lay salt across streets and driveways, though certain spreaders can also be used during the other seasons as a method of helping with landscaping. When it actually comes to landscaping spreaders can be used to carry sand, dirt, gravel, and other granular-type materials that one may use for their various landscaping endeavors.
Spreaders themselves come in various different shapes and sizes, all of which makes their uses very varied and expansive, from commercial use to a simple drive down the driveway, spreaders come in plenty of different types. When it comes to the spreaders that Intercon and ITEParts carry, we focus on bringing you the best that we have in the realms of Tailgate Spreaders and V-Box Spreaders! And with that mentioned, why don’t we go right ahead and get into what we have to offer for you?
What Brands do you sell?
Why not check for yourself? Intercon and ITEParts carry a bounty of different brands and types of spreaders, though if you were to ask any of us here our top recommendations would absolutely have to be:
WESTERN – Located out in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Western is one of the top leading manufacturers when it comes to snow and ice control products. Offering an incredibly wide variety of “perfomance-enhancing snow play and spreader accessories and parts”.
BOSS – Designed and Manufactured in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Boss stands alongside Western as one of the industry tops when it comes to snow and ice control. Boss works hard to offer a wide bounty of salt and sand spreaders.
BUYERS – Founded and manufactured right here in the USA, Buyers Products works hard to stay at the cutting edge when it comes to innovation and value. A trusted brand when it comes to ice and snow equipment, Buyers has spent decades honing their craft.
Intercon and ITEParts offer plenty more than these three brands, but today we want to primarily highlight these three and show you what they have to offer.
Always remember, when it comes to spreaders there is no wrong answer for brands. Each has its benefits for what they can offer to you!
Tailgate Spreaders
Western, Boss, and Buyers all carry tailgate spreaders, which as the name suggests, are spreaders that can be easily attached to the tailgate of your everyday truck. If you live in an area where snow is somewhat common then you likely have seen trucks going down your streets clearing snow and laying down a layer of salt. Most of the time these trucks feature tailgate spreaders, in fact there’s a chance that some of the trucks you’ve seen have been specially built and prepared by Intercon!
When it comes to our inventory of spreaders we have plenty of different options for you to pick from, below is just a small selection offered by Western, Boss, and Buyers:
WESTERN – With Western we’d love to point you towards some low profile spreaders, built to ensure that your rearview isn’t obstructed, these spreaders are lower to the ground which ensures a more concentrated and even spread of salt no matter where you go.
This model of spreader comes in three different variants,
The Model 500, 1000, 2500 are all low profile tailgate spreaders that have been specially designed with ease of use in mind. In this order they have a maximum carrying capacity of 5 Cubic Feet, 8 Cubic Feet, and 8.50 Cubic Feet. The spreaders all come built in with specially designed corrosion-resistant hoppers, electric drive motors, adjustable feed gates, and much more. Checking them out on ITEParts will feature a much deeper and detailed list of features then we could ever do here.
BOSS – Boss primarily focuses on the usual tailgate spreaders, these spreaders are only a little bit larger, and are designed to be rugged, innovative, and reliable. Boss focuses heavily on keeping their spreaders efficient and ready. Much like Western they work to ensure that the spreaders keep a low profile design and are ready for whatever may be thrown at them.
This model of spreader comes in four different variants,
The Model 300, 600, 800, and 1100, are all built to last and each feature a clean low profile design to ensure there’s blockage of vision. In the order they’ve been presented each spreader has a maximum carrying capacity of 3 Cubic Feet, 6 Cubic Feet, 8 Cubic Feet, and 11 Cubic Feet. All four spreaders feature a solid poly hopper cover, top screen bag splitters, and the Model 600, 800, and 1100 have optional vibrators. Much like with the Western spreaders, our detailed list of features on ITEParts has much more detail then we could have put just here alone.
BUYERS – The last on our little trip down spreader lane is Buyers, these spreaders feature corrosion-proof hoppers, are easy to mount, and seek to be rugged, easy to use commercial tailgates. As is a trend here, Buyers works hard to ensure their spreaders are low profile and easy to use.
This model of spreader comes in four different variants,
The Model 02, 03, 06, and 07, all these spreaders are designed to be great for residential and commercial use, though the model 02 is much more heavily suggested for residential use over commercial. When it comes to capacity, each spreader features a maximum capacity as follows, 4 Cubic Feet, 8 Cubic Feet, 10 Cubic Feet, and 11 Cubic Feet. All four spreaders are built to last, rugged and tough with each featuring simple 2 inch hitch-mount designs and easy to use controls.
If you couldn’t tell, you have a lot of options when it comes to tailgate spreaders, be it commercial or residential use, you’ll have plenty to look at before deciding what is the right fit for you.
But what if you need something that’s a little bit bigger?
V-Box Spreaders
When the weather gets worse, and the snow gets tougher, you’ll need a lot more to protect the roads. Enter the V-Box Spreader, these spreaders are designed to go big, Western, Boss, and Buyers don’t pull any punches when it comes to ensure that their V-Box Spreaders can get any job done no matter what that job might be.
WESTERN – If you’re in need of a V-Box Spreader from Western then the Marauder is likely to be your new best friend, while you are trading out the low profile of the tailgate spreader, the Marauder is built for commercial use above all else.
